Native to Jackson Hole in Wyoming, Travis Rice learned to ride and to fly above snow after numerous powder sessions in the backcountry. He fine tuned his technique there and it's only after that he would spend more time in snow parks.

Travis's professional career started in 2001. He got noticed during the annual session Superpark who is organized every spring by U.S. magazine Snowboarder. Sponsorless, he impressed riders and watchers by his audacious style and notably a huge backside rodeo above a 117 feet gap. Before, Travis had never landed something that big. His favourite sentence at the time was " I don't give a fuck ! ", which shows a certain force of personality. Following this feat he got connected by Absinthe Films producer Justin Hostynek to shoot his video part. The video crew and Travis went in Alaska for a month of filming. The result was so good that Travis got the opening part of Absinthe's Transcendence. Travis reputation was beginning to spread in the snowboard world and the first consecration arrived the following year in 2002, when he got the gold medal in the X-Games in Aspen, Colorado, beating freestyle snowboard star Kevin Jones. Then, several prestigious contests first palce finishes folowed including the Arctic Challenge, the US Open (in Slopestyle and Rail Jam) and the Air & Style 2006.

But it is during freestyle sessions in the backountry that Travis Rice excels. He blew minds with swiss snowboarder Romain de Marchi during a memorable backcountry session near Salt Lake City in 2004. There Travis launched hismself into 120 feet long 1080s and other super technical rotations. Since then, you can't count all the feats in videos and podiums that Travis has accomplished year after year. Always higher, farther and more technical, what can stop Travis Rice ?
