Fred Patacchia is a fast and powerful goofyfoot who was born and bred on the North Shore of Oahu. He's a former prodigy and NSSA Champ and was the 2005 ASP Rookie of the Year. He's an incredible tube rider at spots like Pipe and Teahupo'o and he's also got a wicked backhand honed from years smacking the lip at his home break of Haleiwa. Fred is super friendly and outgoing. He waves the aloha flag 24/7 and brings true Hawaiian spirit wherever he goes.
The charismatic Hawaiian is coming off a remarkable season in which he was awarded 2005 Rookie Of The Year. Joining the ranks as a part of the new wave of Hawaiian competitors Patacchia is a fast, stylish surfer who combines an innovative approach with classic power surfing and barrel riding. He stunned fellow competitors last season with a slew of impressive results including a semi-final finish in epic conditions in Fiji. Pattachia’s years of experience on the World Qualifying Series have sharpened his attack, and his confidence overpowered any rookie year nervousness. Following his fellow countrymen, the Irons Brothers into the heat of the battle, Patacchia's potential at this level of competition is boundless, yet despite him being intensely focussed when the "job's on", out of the water he takes a lighthearted and fun approach to the travel. Watch in awe as Patacchia lights it up this year on tour.
Outside of surfing, Fred loves to play golf and has eclectic taste in music and fashion. He is also a talented filmmaker as evidenced by his self produced signature film, “The Freddy P Project: Interrogation"
